Have a blast with D.R.I.

Punks and metalheads used to hate each other with a venom normally reserved for authority figures, but the dudes in D.R.I. changed all that by pairing hardcore velocity with thrash metal riffing.

For close to three decades now, the Dirty Rotten Imbeciles have been sweating out short and not-so-sweet ragers about beer and boredom with the speed and fury of a series of laser-guided missiles.

Have a blast -- literally -- with D.R.I. at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Cheyenne Saloon, 3101 N. Rancho Drive. Tickets are $10; call 645-4139.
