Jillette, Adkins scooping to win

It will be a clash of personalities on Sunday’s finale of “All-Star Celebrity Apprentice” — pitting Vegas star Penn Jillette against country singer Trace Adkins. Both are trying to sell the most ice cream.

So on Monday, Jillette dressed in an ice-cream suit and sold his creation — Vanilla & Chocolate Magic Swirtle — at a Walgreens on the Strip, with help from Teller, George Wallace, Blue Man Group, Taylor Hicks, Mac King and showgirls.

Meanwhile, Adkins posted a gargantuan pile of tweets and retweets (about 150) in an effort to sell his ice cream, Maple Macadamia Mash-Up.

Adkins has 208,000 Twitter followers, compared to Jillette’s nearly 2 million. But Adkins’ fans vowed to buy gallons upon gallons. One Adkins fan tweeted of his ice cream that she doesn’t “like nuts in my food but gonna buy it anyway & pick nuts out!”

Adkins told supporters in Nashville on Sunday that the “Apprentice” was “an exercise in restraint, really, just to try not to maul anybody,” according to USA Today.

“And,” Adkins grouched, “my one concern is that people will get the wrong impression from me that I’m very tolerant and start trying to push those buttons in a real-world situation, and somebody’s gonna get hurt. Because I’m really not like that.”

Yikes.

On the other hand, Jillette posted a photo of his kids at the Walgreens event. Walgreens will donate $100,000 to the charity of the winning ice cream.

If Jillette wins “Apprentice,” the Rio headliner will raise another quarter-million dollars for Opportunity Village. Adkins is playing for the Red Cross.

Jillette’s ice cream is vanilla with sea salt chocolate swirl and fudge caramel candy pieces.
