Local restaurants vie for honor
Four local restaurants are represented among the semifinalists for the 2011 James Beard Foundation Awards.
China Poblano at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is a semifinalist for Best New Restaurant; Picasso at Bellagio, 3600 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is a semifinalist for Outstanding Restaurant and the restaurant’s Robert Smith for Outstanding Wine Service; and Saipin Chutima of Lotus of Siam, 953 E. Sahara Ave., and Mitsuo Endo of Aburiya Raku, 5030 Spring Mountain Road, for Best Chef: Southwest. The finalists will be announced March 21. The awards ceremony is May 9 in New York. …
Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant-Wine Bar, 4480 Paradise Road, has introduced a new menu, with owner Gino Ferraro "going back to his roots" with such dishes as lasagna, chicken Parmesan and rigatoni with meatballs or sausage. And during March the restaurant is offering Gino’s March Madness, a locals-appreciation program that features a three-course dinner for $29 from 4 to 6 p.m. and 9 to 11 p.m. …
Shakespeare’s Grille & Pub, 790 Coronado Center Drive in Henderson, is offering buy-one-entree-get-one-free from 3 to 6 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays. The restaurant also has added a $4.95 special to its weekend brunch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, and is offering $2 food and beer specials during happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. to closing daily. …
D. vino Italian Food & Wine Bar at the Monte Carlo, 3770 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is offering an Italian beer dinner during March. The menu pairs various dishes with Italian craft beers. …
The Verandah at the Four Seasons, 3960 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is celebrating the Tuscany region of Italy through the end of March. The promotion includes a three-course prix-fixe dinner for $39. The region of Campania will be celebrated during April. …
Roy’s Restaurants, 8701 W. Charleston Blvd. and 620 E. Flamingo Road, have extended My Prix Fixe Mondays, offering any appetizer, entree and dessert for $35.95 every Monday. …
