M Resort’s video poker looser than average, but with less selection

The new M Resort, 12300 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is a beautiful property with interesting-looking restaurants and other amenities, but we'll let others tell you about that. This is a gambling column.

The table games had higher-than-typical limits for a locals' property ($3,000), but otherwise, the game mix seemed pretty standard.

For video poker, they have sixteen 100 percent machines, for quarters only, for the typical versions of Deuces Wild (100.76 percent), Joker Wild (100.65 percent), Double Bonus (100.17 percent) and Double Double Bonus (100.07 percent). These machines receive one-fourth the usual slot club points, and there's a conspicuous sign saying that these machines are not eligible for any casino promotions.

Outside of the 100 percent machines, the casino has dozens of machines where you'll find two different attractive games: NSU Deuces Wild (16-10-4-4-3) (99.73 percent) and 9/6 Bonus Poker Deluxe (99.64 percent) for all stakes between 25 single line (requiring $1.25 to fully load) and $50 Five Play (requiring $1,250). They have a few 9/6 Jacks or Better machines (99.54 percent) for $5 and higher, and some Super NSU Deuces Wild (15-11-4-4-3) (99.96 percent) games for 25 -$1 Triple Play/Five Play. One of their banks of quarter Quick Quads has top-of-the-line pay schedules. So while they have a much looser than average overall video poker product, they have a less than average selection of different types of good games.

The High Limit Salon was primarily for table games. There was a nice bar in there where the best game is 9/5 Jacks or Better (98.45 percent) for $5 and $10, but the vast majority of the higher-limit slots and video poker machines, up to $100, were on the main floor.

The slot club, iMagine Rewards, returns 0.3003 percent in cash back, free play or comps. You may use your club card directly at retail outlets, and you may turn your points into free play directly at the machine. There will be tiers in the club, but at this time, the requirements of the different tier levels are unknown. Advertising promises easy-to-get comps.

On the next four Saturday nights, the Silverton will draw 20 names. Sixteen winners each will receive $250-$1,000 cash, while the remaining four will choose an envelope from the Money Bag and win $2,500-$200,000.

Eight Station Casinos, as well as both Fiestas will draw a total of 120 names every Friday and Saturday night this month, giving each winner $500 plus a chance to win $1 million.
