5 inexpensive music shows coming up in Las Vegas

Surf’s up

It’s a satisfying time in Las Vegas for those who gravitate to surf guitars. Head over to Bunkhouse Saloon on Saturday to catch Guantanamo Baywatch and then see Swami John Reiss and the Blind Shake next week. Tickets for Guantanamo Baywatch are $10; the show is at 9 p.m.

Blind date

John Reiss — who has played with some great bands, including Rocket From the Crypt, Hot Snakes and Drive Like Jehu — is returning to Las Vegas on Thursday for a show at Beauty Bar with Swami John Reiss and the Blind Shake on Thursday. Tickets are $10; the show is at 9 p.m.

Purple people

If you have a soft spot for older sounds and would rather spend your money on suds, head over to Count’s Vamp’d on Friday for a free show featuring Knee Deep in the Purple and Children of the Damned, channeling the music of Deep Purple and Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne, respectively.

Live wire

On Saturday, Count’s Vamp’d presents another terrific night of tribute acts. The evening features High Voltage putting the paddles to classic AC/DC tunes and Children of the Damned interpreting the songs of Iron Maiden. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. and admission is free.

Jam on it

More and more, Las Vegas is becoming an absolute haven for fans of the jam band genre. On Wednesday at Vinyl at the Hard Rock Hotel, LV Jam Band Society is presenting a great show featuring Dead Winter Carpenters from Lake Tahoe, California. The free show starts at 8 p.m.
