Celebrate good times with spirited Matt and Kim

Ronda Rousey, who beat the ever-loving crap out of Bethe Correia last weekend, is known for her terrifyingly brief fights that end in less time than it will take you to read these words. That one took 34 seconds, and her first fight as an amateur took only 23.

That was almost five years ago. Know what the professional pugilist remembers about that win? Eating a slice of apple pie afterward and then singing along to “Don’t Slow Down” by Matt and Kim on her way home. “I just had this feeling driving home listening to that song that this is the beginning of a whole new era for me,” Rousey recently told the L.A. Daily News.

It makes sense that she chose a Matt and Kim song to celebrate, as the duo’s music is custom-built for celebrating (well, and car commercials, too, as it turns out). For the better part of the past decade, the Brooklyn-based act’s namesakes, Matt Johnson and Kim Schifino, celebrating life together, have crisscrossed the country making everybody’s lives seem much less monotonous.

The live shows are completely out of hand with Kim boogying all over the stage when she’s not climbing on top of her drum kit or climbing on top of the crowd. Got three minutes? Watch the “Get It” video to get an idea of what you’re in for with this couple. There may be only two of them — Matt on the keys and Kim on the kit — but they know how to bring it, and the result is an unbridled upheaval of pure happiness.
