Chris Botti playing show at Green Valley Ranch Resort

Chris Botti is touted as a top-selling instrumentalist, but the classy trumpet guy is just as well known for his singer friends as for his jazz solos.

He came to fame in Sting’s tour band, and his live albums have featured everyone from Josh Groban to John Mayer and Steven Tyler. It’s hard to discern whom he will bring to Green Valley Ranch on Saturday, but shows this year have included the dynamic Rolling Stones tour singer Lisa Fischer.

But yes, there’s that trumpet, riding the line between smooth and traditional jazz. “To a kid that listens to Wynton Marsalis or Roy Hargrove, they think Chris Botti is complete elevator music,” he noted a few years ago. “Everyone has their different taste factor.”

Tickets are $33-$59 for the 8 p.m. Saturday show in the Grand Events Center at Green Valley Ranch Resort, 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway. Call 547-5300.
