Early look at Las Vegas summer music festivals

It’s almost summer!

OK, it’s not.

At all.

But all the gorgeous weather hitting us of late has gotten me thinking of the warmer, late spring/early summer months.

Locally, that time of year has become synonymous with some great music festivals whose line-ups have started taking shape.

Here’s how three of the best Vegas fests are looking so far:

PUNK ROCK BOWLING

May 23-26

Downtown

One of the best parties of the year, Punk Rock Bowling returns with a loaded — literally— bill headlined by Cock Sparrer, the Descendents and NOFX, with the recently added Against Me! and Face to Face joining Anti-Nowhere League, the Dwarves, Off!, Leftover Crack, Cerebral Ballzy, Good Riddance, Peter and the Test Tube Babies, SNFU, The Adicts and dozens of others.

DOOM IN JUNE

June 6 and 7

The Cheyenne Saloon

Now in its fourth year, Doom in June expands to two days this summer with a still-growing line-up of cosmic, riff-driven hard rock and metal featuring Novembers Doom, Acid Witch, Christian Mistress, Satan’s Host, Demon Lung, Pale Divine and many more.

LAS VEGAS DEATH FEST 666

June 12-14

LVCS

Relocating from the Cheyenne Saloon to LVCS on Fremont Street, the Las Vegas Death Fest has graduated to a bigger room after packing its previous venue year after year with gore hounds from around the globe. More space means more bloodletting at the clawed hands of Waco Jesus, Cranial Impalement, Unmerciful, Gorgasm, Rott and Exhumer to name but a few.
