They seem a vanishing breed, these singer-songwriters who look kind of cool with age lines in their faces, and who can make you sit and listen in rapt attention to their storytelling.
John Hiatt has visited Las Vegas more than once with only his guitar. Lyle Lovett fans are more used to seeing him swing with his "large band." But even in those shows, Lovett always gave the band a break to lay down some world-weary Texas wisdom.
Hiatt and Shawn Colvin did the acoustic thing in separate sets a few years ago, but he and Lovett spend a lot of time onstage together. "The shows are very spontaneous, every night is different," Lovett says in press materials. "It gives our audiences a chance to see a side of us they don’t always see."
