The Spinners carry on at Cannery

Most people remember where they were when they heard Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson died. But the 2008 death of Pervis Jackson may have been a moment of realization for obit readers: "That was the guy!" who boomed the immortal phrase "12:45" on the Spinners' classic "Games People Play."

The Spinners carry on with two original members, Bobbie Smith and Henry Fambrough. And everyone still loves them, because how many so-called soul groups of the era had such a diverse array of hits, from "Rubberband Man" to "Then Came You"?

They sing at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cannery, 2121 E. Craig Road. Tickets are $19.45-$41.45; call 617-5550.
