Turner back to show locals love

The locals gave Earl Turner his base to build for a bigger career, and he's coming back to see them this weekend at the Suncoast.

This is the versatile singer's first weekend of shows since he teamed with Lani Misalucha for "Voices" at the Las Vegas Hilton in 2009. It was part of a journey that included years in the Rio's lounge and a run as a New Orleans headliner that was cut short by Hurricane Katrina.

Turner's nine-piece ensemble kicks up the old-school groove at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive. Tickets are $17.50-$35.25; call 636-7075.
