New Year’s activities abound for Las Vegas locals hoping to skip the Strip

Locals looking for New Year’s Eve festivities need not venture onto the Strip. View staff members compiled a list of plenty of activities throughout the Las Vegas Valley for revelers hoping to avoid the crowds of tourists. Most activities are limited to adults 21 or older unless otherwise noted.

SUMMERLIN AREA

Red Rock Resort

Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd., plans to host a Toast the East Coast event with free drinks for women from 8 to 9 p.m. Dec. 31 in the Lobby Bar. It will be followed by the New York City ball drop on the TVs behind the bar.

The former nightclub Cherry is set to reopen to the public for one night of celebrations to ring in the New Year, featuring DJ G Squared. The cost is $20 for general admission and includes a champagne toast, party favors and hats. Doors are set to open at 10 p.m.

Rocks Lounge plans to feature live music by Elvis Monroe, with doors set to open at 9 p.m., and the show set from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Cover is $20.

VIP and table reservations are available for Cherry and Rocks Lounge, ranging from $450 for four people to $1,500 for 10 people and include bottle service, dessert selections and VIP seating/booths. For more information, call 702-797-7517.

Suncoast

A cosmic bowling party is planned at the Suncoast Bowling Center, 9090 Alta Drive. Bowling packages are available from 9 p.m. to midnight, starting at $17.50 per person for all ages.

New Year’s at Noon is set for 11:30 a.m. in the Suncoast Showroom, featuring celebrated local entertainers Mark Giovi, Genevieve Dew and Mark Bennick. Tickets start at $15.95 and include a champagne toast. Vegas Super Band is set to perform in the Showroom at 10 p.m. Tickets are $29.95, including a champagne toast and balloon drop. Distill Sunmmerlin

From Henderson to Summerlin, Remedy’s, Elixir and Distill (RED) invite Las Vegans to “ditch the strip” and celebrate at any one of five neighborhood establishments. New Year’s Eve parties at all locations will start at 9 p.m. Dec. 31 and are free to all patrons (must be 21 or older with valid ID). Guests can enjoy laughter, friends and fun with live music, dancing, drink specials, party favors and a champagne toast at midnight.

Downtown Summerlin

The Rock Rink at Downtown Summerlin, 1980 Festival Plaza Drive, plans to have princess characters skating and taking photos with kids from noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 31, noon to 4 p.m. Jan. 1 and 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 3, 10 and 17. DJ at Rock Rink is planned for New Year’s Eve, with music and lights from 1 to 6 p.m. Dec. 31, as well as from 6 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Skating is $15, including skate rental. CrossFit

New Year’s Eve at CrossFit RA is planned for 7 p.m. Dec. 31 at CrossFit RA, 7091 W. Craig Road, Suite 102.

Workout to end 2014 with a bang. Bring along clothes to change into for the rest of activities set to include games, a raffle, and BYOB if you’d like to toast in 2015 at midnight. A New Year’s fitness resolution wall decorating is also planned to outline fitness goals for the new year. The event is free for members, $10 for nonmembers.

Lake Las Vegas

Kids can jump their way into 2015 at BounceU of Henderson, 1000 N. Stephanie Place. Children from 3 to 13 are invited to the Parent’s Night Out party from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Dec. 31. The M Resort

JAMM is set to perform at 10 p.m. Dec. 31 at Ravello at the M Resort, 12300 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Doors open at 8 p.m., and entry costs $20. Tables and bottle service are available.

Peter Love is scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Dec. 31 at Rosalita’s at Sunset Station, 1301 W. Sunset Road. Performances by Ryan Whyte Maloney and Cali Tucker are set for 10 p.m. at the Gaudi Bar. DJ Lee Orchard plans to lead partygoers into the New Year at 11 p.m. at Club Madrid. All performances are free.

All ages are welcome at a New Year’s Eve bowling night scheduled from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in Sunset Station’s Strike Zone Bowling Center. Participants are scheduled to receive three hours of bowling and shoe rental, a large single-topping pizza, soft drinks and party favors for $110 for five people. The price increases to $140 on Dec. 31.

The Fiesta Henderson

For those who can’t make it to midnight, The Alley Cats plan to host a New Year’s at Noon performance at noon in the Showroom. Tickets are $19 and include party favors and a champagne toast.
