Origin India offering five-course menu for Valentine’s Day

Origin India Restaurant & Bar, 4480 Paradise Road, has planned a menu of aphrodisiacs for the celebration of a sensuous Valentine’s Day. The five-course menu of vegetarian and nonvegetarian dishes includes an entree of roasted wild Atlantic halibut, Rajasthani-style braised baby lamb shank, chicken breast with cardamom and mace, or spinach kofta stuffed with dates and ginger. It’s $70 per person with seatings at 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday. For reservations, call 734-6342. …

The fourth annual Sweets From Around the World event is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, 1451 Center Crossing Road. The sampling of pastries, chocolates and other sweets prepared by the school’s students and chefs is $5 (free for children 5 and younger); an optional wine tasting (5:30 to 6:30 p.m.) is $25 and available to the first 40 people who RSVP by calling 851-5322. …

Ceres Restaurant’s Dine in 2009 for $20.09 features a three-course menu (which changes weekly) of traditional comfort foods offered from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Sample entrees include braised boneless beef short ribs, pan-seared snapper and mushroom gnocchi. And J.C. Wooloughan Irish Pub is offering appetizers, premium draft beer and some martinis and cocktails for $5 (and domestic beer two for $5) from 3 to 7 p.m. weekdays. …

Marche Bacchus, 2620 Regatta Drive, has introduced a Friday happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m., with live jazz and a $9 menu that includes such dishes as Kobe beef sliders, lobster Monte Cristo and cheese plates. …

Mimmo Ferraro’s, 5900 W. Flamingo Road, now offers a takeout-only menu with such dishes as lasagna, jumbo mushroom ravioli and gnocchi with Bolognese or pomodoro sauce. Entrees run $13 to $15; appetizers and salads also are available. …

In honor of Chinese New Year, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro has added several dishes to its menu. Traditionalists will be pleased to hear they include egg rolls containing pork as well as vegetables. Also: Cantonese-style duck, sesame chicken and mahi mahi. …

Retro Bakery, 7785 N. Durango Drive, will mark its first birthday by offering a free cupcake to those who stop by between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday. …

Joseph James Brewing Company, which brews its craft beers in Henderson, now is available at Whole Foods Markets. Bellagio, MGM Resorts International’s luxury hotel turns 20
The more than 3,000-room Bellagio hotel is situated on the site of the former Dunes Hotel. The Dunes was imploded in 1993, and construction of the Bellagio started in 1996. It cost $1.6 billion to build, making it the most expensive hotel in the world at the time. The Bellagio was former Wynn Resorts Ltd.
