6 Las Vegans make the cut for Fox’s ‘MasterChef’

A cooking competition series without a Las Vegan is like a tabloid without a Kardashian.

Both can happen, it’s just disorienting when they do.

On that note, six Las Vegans are among the 40 home cooks who’ve made the cut for the seventh season of Fox’s “MasterChef.”

Hosted by chefs Gordon Ramsay and Christina Tosi, “MasterChef” awards the winner a cookbook deal and a $250,000 grand prize.

The Las Vegans in the running are:

• poker player David Williams

• bartender D’Andre Balaoing

• DJ Shaun O’Neale

• truck driver James Woods

• restaurant manager Shawn Norris

• and karate instructor Will Staten

“MasterChef” premieres at 8 p.m. June 1 on Fox.
