Las Vegas Review-Journal Metro/Business Reporting Internships – Spring and Summer 2022

The Las Vegas Review-Journal is offering two spring Metro reporting internships, two summer Metro reporting internships and a summer Business reporting internship. We’re looking for ambitious, inquisitive and enthusiastic reporters who are eager to use shoe leather and help cover breaking news in this vibrant city while contributing impactful enterprise.

Our ideal candidates are recent college graduates who have completed at least one previous internship or have experience working for a college publication or other professional news organization. We’re especially interested in applicants who speak fluent Spanish. Candidates should be able to generate original story ideas, handle breaking news assignments, shoot video and be active on all social media platforms.

Start and end dates for the internships are flexible, but we’re looking for candidates who are able to work between 10 and 16 weeks in the spring and between 10 and 12 weeks in the summer.

Las Vegas is as dynamic a news market as anywhere in the country, and the Review-Journal is the area’s dominant news source. Southern Nevada is home to about 2.3 million people, plus up to 200,000 visitors on any given day. It is a diverse metro area with a vibrant downtown and cultural scene, and it’s a half-day drive or less to some of the West’s most spectacular outdoor recreation and national parks.

Among many honors, the Review-Journal won a 2021 National Headliner Award for public service; won the Society of Professional Journalists’ Sigma Delta Chi Award for deadline reporting two of the past four years; won 31 Best of the West awards in the past three years; and was an Eppy Awards finalist in two of the past three years for best daily newspaper website with at least a million unique monthly visitors. We’re an innovative, collaborative newsroom that’s been featured twice in the past year by the American Press Institute/Better News for our efforts to grow our digital audience.

The Review-Journal is an equal-opportunity employer and a drug-free workplace. A pre-employment drug screening is mandatory and, effective Oct. 15, all employees must provide proof they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. A reliable vehicle is required for reporting internships. The internships pay $15 per hour plus mileage reimbursement.

The deadline to apply for 2022 spring internships is December 17, 2021. The deadline to apply for 2022 summer internships is December 31, 2021.

To apply, send a cover letter, resume and three to five work samples to Deputy Managing Editor Peter Johnson at pjohnson@reviewjournal.com.
