Visit the drive-thru flu shot clinic in as Vegas on Saturday

Drive in, get your flu shot, drive away at 2 clinics

You don’t even have to get out of your car to get a flu shot this year. Southwest Medical Associates, 4475 South Eastern Ave., will host drive-thru flu shot clinic from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. A second clinic will be from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 23 Southwest Medical’s center at 2704 N. Tenaya Way. Cost will vary depending on your insurance co-pay. Medical plans Southwest Medical accepts are: Golden Rule, Health Plan of Nevada, Nevada Check-up, Original Medicare, Senior Dimensions, Sierra Health and Life Insurance Co., Sierra Health-Care Options, SmartChoice, Tricare/Champus and UnitedHealthcare.

The events are open to the public, and no appointment is necessary. Children must be 6 months or older.

UNLV student center hosting Wellness Expo

UNLV, 4505 South Maryland Parkway, will host a Wellness Expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in the lobby of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. Students can show their Rebel cards for raffle and T-shirt opportunities.

Energy healing event at Sahara West library

Sahara West Public Library, 9600 West Sahara Ave., will host an event focusing on energy healing at 2 p.m. Monday, co-sponsored by the Las Vegas Chinese Cultural Foundation. Hands-on energy adjustments are designed to promote calmness and pain relief, as well as reduce stress.

Pahrump hospital offers balance screening

The Desert View Hospital outpatient therapy department, 1500 E. Highway 372, Suite F, Pahrump, will offer free balance screenings from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday. Screenings will last about 10 minutes. No physician order is required. To make an appointment, call 702-388-4888.

Kohl’s in Henderson sets bike safety event

Kohl’s, 30 N. Valle Verde Drive, Henderson, will host a bike rodeo from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 23. Free youth-sized helmets will be available while supplies last. Bikes will be available for children to use in the safety event.

Run, jog or walk in race to benefit USO Las Vegas

The third annual “Challenge a Troop” 5K will be held Sept. 30 at Craig Ranch Regional Park, 628 W. Craig Road, benefiting the USO Las Vegas. Participants can run, jog or walk. The event begins at 8 a.m., with the race stepping off at 9, and includes food, games, a vendor fair, beer garden and entertainment. All runners receive a finishing medal and a USO 5K shirt. Heart & Stroke Walk accepting registration

Registration is open for teams and individuals who want to join the 2017 Las Vegas Heart & Stroke Walk, which kicks off at 8 a.m. Sept. 30 at the Fremont Street Experience, 425 Fremont St. The American Heart Association event includes a 5k timed run, the “Miracle Mile,” a 1-mile walk for survivors and the 5k walk.
