Produce farming topic of Extension’s two-day workshop
Backyard gardeners to small-acreage commercial planters are invited to the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s “So You Want To Be a Produce Farmer” workshop June 25-26 at its Lifelong Learning Center in Las Vegas.
The two-day workshop agenda is packed with information from how to get a farm going to running farmers markets. It is part of extension’s Herds & Harvest program, a three-year agricultural initiative providing Nevada’s beginning farmers and ranchers with the tools necessary to own, operate and sustain their own agricultural operation.
Individuals with no agricultural experience, those involved in agriculture for less than 10 years and those expanding their operations qualify for this and all other Herds & Harvest programming.
Preregistration for the two-day event is $50 per ranch (for as many as three people) and includes lunch and refreshments . The one-day registration fee is $30 per group of three. Registration the day of the event is $60.
