Roger Thomas’ work showcased at art gallery

The work of Roger Thomas, executive vice president design for Wynn Design and Development, will be the focus of new exhibit at Heather James Fine Art in Palm Desert, Calif.

For the exclusive exhibit, Thomas will include limited editions of his furnishings and lighting, each created with hand drawings inspired by the 18th century French decorative arts that influence his work. Each edition is limited to five, with two artists proofs.

Some of the furnishings in the exhibit were created for the Architectural Digest Green Room at the 2010 Academy Awards. In addition the exhibition will include 12 hand-embroidered silk textiles and 12 pastel gestural drawings of architectural details on fine handmade paper.

For 30 years, Thomas has created unique and trendsetting environments for Steve Wynn’s resorts including the Bellagio, Wynn Las Vegas and Encore.

The exhibit, Roger Thomas: A Perfected World, opens Friday and continues through May 30. An opening reception is planned from 6-8 p.m., preceded by an artist talk with Thomas at 5 p.m.

The gallery is located at 45188 Portola Ave.
