A crowd of 400 supporters donned Western duds and boots to attend Opportunity Village’s annual barbecue at Bonnie and Frank Martin’s Bitter Root Ranch on Sept. 10.
The attendees enjoyed a lively affair that included taking a ride on a mechanical bull.
Kid Fiddlers and Stetzon provided music. The evening also featured line dancing to the J R Lightning Band and a barbecue buffet. Food stations were prepared by BOA Steakhouse, Border Grill, Rubio’s Mexican Grill, Sushi Roku, and Winder Farms. Bonanza Beverage, Born and Raised Tavern & Lounge, Coca-Cola and Southern Wine & Spirits provided beverages.
The dinner and auction committee members in attendance were Melinda and Bob Brown, Donna Jenkins, Darlene and Cliff Miller and Mark Wayman.
Dollar Loan Center presented Opportunity Village with a $15,000 check.

RONALD McDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES
The Las Vegas chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities held its 13th annual gala, “A Ticket to Paradise,” on Sept. 10 at the Renaissance Hotel.
Wearing “island chic,” the 300 guests were greeted with fresh orchid leis as they entered the ballroom decorated by McKannix Floral Studio with brilliant bird of paradise flowers and tropical fruit centerpieces on each dinner table.
A silent auction was conducted for 115 items.
The program began with a singing performance by Gilbert Magnet School for Communications & Creative Arts.
Mercedes, of Mix 94.1 FM, served as mistress of ceremonies.
Eva Martin, RMHC board chair welcomed all and thanked sponsors Lexus of Las Vegas, HSBC Bank Nevada, N.A., Southern Wine & Spirits, IGT, Century Link, Sunrise Children’s Hospital, United Healthcare and owner/operators of Las Vegas McDonald’s. The event honored the Coca-Cola Company and Smith’s Food & Drug for their outstanding charitable work.
Christian Kolberg conducted the live auction that featured a cockapoo puppy.
Harbor Lights played for dancing.
