HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, there will be a moderate four-mile hike. Tuesday, there will be a very strenuous 12-mile hike up the Rocky Gap Road to the Red Rock Summit. Wednesday, there will be a 2.5-mile moderate at hike with some bouldering at Ice Box Canyon. Friday, there will be a 4.5-mile moderate hike around Potato Knoll. Also on Friday will be a moderate 4-mile hike at Calico Tanks. On Saturday, there will be an easy 1/2-mile walk at Corn Creek. Also on Saturday there will be a moderate 3-mile hike to First Creek. On May 3, there will be a 3.5-mile moderate hike to La Madre Spring to learn about the various groups of people who lived in the area (515-5367).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three- to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's Web site: www.aroundthebendfriends.com

Red Rock Canyon: On May 3, there will be an introductory mountain bike ride starting from the late night parking lot. Helmets required (515-5367).
