Red Rock Canyon: A moderate 4-mile hike is scheduled for Monday to Stanley B. Springs trail for views of Mummy Mountain and Cockscomb Ridge, as well as distant views across the valley. On Friday, there will be a moderate, 4-mile hike to Fletcher Canyon on Mount Charleston. There will be scrambling back to Obstacle Rock in the lower part of the canyon. On Saturday, there will be an early morning 3-mile hike to and around the base of the Calico Hills to the Moenkopi trail and back to the visitor center (515-5367).

Red Rock Canyon: On Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to noon, there will be a program about Nevada’s state reptile, the desert tortoise at the visitor center. On Friday, there will be an interactive program for 5-10 year olds about butterflies. Children will learn all about butterflies with a hands-on activity and craft. Limited space.
