HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a strenuous, 4-mile hike with some scrambling at Sandstone Quarry. On Tuesday, a moderately strenuous 6-mile loop at Cave Canyon. Also Tuesday, an easy, 3-mile dog hike to Lost Creek. On Friday, a moderate, 3-mile hike to Keystone Thrust. On Saturday, a moderate, 3-mile hike to the top of Fossil Ridge. Also Saturday, an easy, 1/2-mile walk at Corn Creek Spring. On Dec. 5, a moderately strenuous 3-mile hike at Muddy Mountain Wilderness (515-5367).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's website: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Saturday, a nature-based class for adults and children 4 and up. No experience necessary and all supplies are included. On Dec. 5, a program for 2-8 year olds about hummingbirds (515-5367).

Archaeo-Nevada Society along with the Bureau of Land Management invites volunteers to help with Red Rock Conservation projects. Visit www.archaeonevada.org.
