EVENTS

Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 8601 Del Webb Blvd., will host a miniretreat featuring the Christian comedy duo the Skit Guys, starring Tommy Woodward and Eddie James, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today. The event, “Testing Your Faith: The Ultimate Challenge,” is open to junior high, senior high and college-age youths. Tickets are $20 (341-7800).

Good Samaritan Lutheran Church, 8425 W. Windmill Lane, hosts the “Blessing of the Pets” at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The nondenominational service will include a brief reading and an individual blessing of all pets/work partners. Participants are asked to bring their own water, pet treats and cleanup bags (873-3589).

Wellspring Church of All Nations, 4870 Janell Drive, offers a Leadership Equipping Summit with a potluck lunch 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Jan. 17 (631-5027).

The “Lights For Life” annual prayer vigil will be at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Lloyd D. George U.S. Courthouse, 333 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The event is sponsored by the Las Vegas Diocesan Committee For Pro-Life Activities (212-6472).

“Kabbalah: The Best Kept Secret,” a free event presented by the Kabbalah Centre, will take place at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at Panevino Ristorante, 246 Via Antonio Ave. (243-0559; www.kabbalah.com).

Reformation Lutheran Church, 580 E. St. Louis Ave., will have a community forum on “Legal Issues for Seniors” with James O’Reilly at 10 a.m. Jan. 22. Coffee and dessert will be provided. Attendees may bring a sack lunch (732-2052).

CLASSES

Govinda’s Center of Vedic India, 6380 S. Eastern Ave., offers Mantra Meditation, a presentation of Indian Vedic Wisdom, vegetarian snacks and literature at 6 p.m. Sundays (434-8332).

Community Baptist Church, 245 E. Foster Ave., Henderson, offers a free reading program for all ages 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays (565-0071).

SINGLES GROUPS

The Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada, 4794 S. Eastern Ave., Suite C, offers singles programs for adults of all ages. Jewish singles in their 20s and 30s meet at 6:30 p.m. the first Monday of the month at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Co. at The District, 2220 Village Walk Drive, Henderson; Jewish singles age 60 and older meet for dinner at various locations the third Wednesday of the month in Henderson, and the last Thursday of the month in Summerlin; all singles meet for a movie the fourth Wednesday of the month at Rave Motion Pictures, 6857 Las Vegas Blvd. South (794-0090).

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church sponsors a singles group for professionals 25 to 45 years old that meets for hiking and other social outings (228-8311, Ext. 7334). There also is a singles group for people 45 and older interested in social, spiritual and cultural activities (228-8311, Ext. 7333).

Single Adults Learning Together, or SALT Ministries of CornerStone Christian Fellowship, meets at 6 p.m. Saturdays at 5825 W. Eldora Ave. (871-5050).
