Barrick Gold Corporation will partner with the Clark County School District to develop new technology and curriculum at 26 middle school campuses.
The mining company announced the partnership Thursday, with an initial grant of $20,060 directed toward the purchase of online simulations and teacher development to train students in new standards in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Training will take place this summer, with the curriculum starting in classrooms next year, according to a Barrick spokesman.
Barrick also plans to discuss the potential to create more mentorship programs with the district, similar to a partnership the company already has in Washoe County, the spokesman said.
