1 dead after 4-vehicle crash Tuesday night

Police say a medical episode may have caused a four-vehicle accident Tuesday night that left one person dead.

A 62-year-old Las Vegas man, driving a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, was southbound on Hinson Street at Charleston Boulevard a little after 7 p.m. when he struck a stopped 1998 BMW 740 IL, according to a Metro release.

The Monte Carlo continued into the intersection, crashing into a 2002 Toyota 4Runner, westbound on Charleston, causing the 4Runner to overturn. A 2007 Nissan Sentra, also westbound on Charleston, struck the 4Runner.

The driver of the 4Runner, Gilberto Cazarez-Carrazco, 31, of Las Vegas, and the driver of the Monte Carlo were transported to University Medical Center.

The driver of the Monte Carlo was pronounced dead at the hospital. Cazarez-Carrazco suffered minor injuries.

Police say they are not counting this collision as a fatal crash until the medical examiner determines the man’s cause of death.

The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the deceased.
