50-year-old pedestrian dead after being struck by pickup truck

Las Vegas police arrested a woman in connection with an early morning collision that left a pedestrian dead Sunday.

A 50-year-old man was outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by a pickup truck eastbound on Sahara Avenue, near Mojave Road, about 3:24 a.m., police said. He died on the scene.

The man’s identity will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office after his family has been notified.

Witnesses described the vehicle to police as a small, late 80s to 90s, two-door white pickup truck with damage to its left headlamp.

Police located the driver, Samantha McLeod, about 2 p.m. After providing a statement, she was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on felony hit and run charges.

This was Metro’s fourth traffic-related fatality for 2015.
