Backyard confrontation leads to fatal east valley shooting

One person is dead after an east valley shooting early Saturday morning.

The shooting occurred about 12:36 a.m. in the 4700 block of Yuma Avenue, near the intersection of Charleston and Nellis boulevards, according to Metro.

Officers responding to a report of gunshots found the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, lying in the backyard of a residence.

Police said the shooting happened during a confrontation with two men in the backyard.

The two men fled the scene and have not been identified. No arrests had been made as of early Saturday afternoon.

Detectives said the incident was drug-related.

The Clark County coroner’s office will release the identity of the deceased once next-of-kin has been notified.
