Bodies of hikers killed in Red Rock Canyon fall recovered

The bodies of two hikers were recovered Saturday afternoon after they died in an apparent fall from a cliff at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, police said.

Police received several calls that a man and woman had fallen from a cliff and were injured, Las Vegas Metropolitan police Lt. Kendall Bell said.

“The Air Unit was able to locate the bodies of both subjects who were deceased,” Bell said.

Metro search and rescue have recovered the bodies near the Pine Creek Trail, Bell said.

Neither Metro nor the Bureau of Land Managment, which manages the conservation area, were able to release statements Saturday afternoon regarding the incident, BLM Ranger Clayton McDermott said.

“It’s just too soon to make any factual statements, and the investigation is ongoing.”
