Clark County coroner confirms teen drowned after falling into wash

Authorities confirmed Monday that a teenager who fell into a wash last week drowned.

William Mootz, a 17-year-old Green Valley High School senior, also had head injuries possibly caused from debris in the fast-moving turbulent water, according to the Clark County coroner's office. Mootz disappeared Wednesday morning after falling into the Pittman Wash behind a Henderson shopping center. His body was recovered Friday morning in wetlands near the Las Vegas Wash about three miles downstream.

There was a possibility Mootz was unconscious when he drowned, authorities said..
