Coroner IDs body found behind east valley strip mall

The woman whose body was found next to a strip mall garbage bin in the east valley over the weekend has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Kathy Shines, 54, of Las Vegas, was found by an employee of a business in Sunrise Manor Center, 3310 Nellis Blvd., near Desert Inn Road, about 6 a.m. Saturday.

Shines suffered from neck trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, Las Vegas police said.

On Monday afternoon, the coroner’s office ruled her death a homicide and said she died of multiple stab wounds.

Police are still looking for a man they say is linked to Shines’ death. He is described as 6 feet all and weighing about 200 pounds. The man was last seen wearing a red shirt, black pants, a black hoodie, a black beanie and dark-colored gloves.
