Coroner IDs man who fell to death from Las Vegas apartment roof

The Las Vegas man who fell to his death Thursday afternoon in the central valley has been identified.

He was 45-year-old Clemente Figueroa, The Clark County coroner’s office said.

Police said a 911 call just before 9:45 a.m. reported a potential jumper on the roof of an apartment building near Flamingo Road and Maryland Parkway. It wasn’t immediately clear when the man fell, but Metropolitan Police Department officers negotiated with Figueroa for several hours before the fall.

He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died.

Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Jay Rivera said police were planning to wait him out, adding Metro had hoped the sun would wear him out and he would come down safely.

Figueroa’s official cause and manner of death are pending with the coroner’s office.
