Coroner IDs motorcyclist killed in Calico Basin on Sunday
The man who died in a motorcycle crash near the Red Rock National Conservation Area Sunday night has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as 53-year-old Kirk Overby of Las Vegas.
Overby was southbound on Calico Basin Road north of State Route 159 about 9:15 p.m. when he crossed the center line and traveled off the roadway, according to Las Vegas police.
Overby and his passenger were ejected as the 2014 KTM 1190 motorcycle traveled over rough terrain, according to police.
Police say Overby was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 57-year-old woman, was airlifted to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
This is the 59th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction in 2014.
