Coroner IDs pedestrian killed at intersection of Sahara and Eastern

The pedestrian who was struck and killed Thursday morning after a driver ran a red light near Sahara and Eastern avenues has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

The pedestrian, 57-year-old Marlon Duane Collins, of Las Vegas, was in a crosswalk about 4:30 a.m. when a sedan with headlights turned off ran a red light and hit him, police said. The man was pronounced dead at University Medical Center shortly after the crash.

Police said that they have not located the car, described as a dark sedan, or its driver.

The intersection of Sahara and Eastern was closed about four hours while Metro’s fatal detail investigated the crash. It has since reopened.

The identity of the man will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office after his family has been notified.
