The Metropolitan Police Department says a bicyclist was killed in a crash early Tuesday morning in the southwest Las Vegas Valley.
According to authorities, evidence at the scene, witness statements, and video surveillance indicated a 2014 Nissan Altima was southbound on Decatur Boulevard approaching the intersection of Tropicana Avenue.
A man was riding his bicycle east from the parking lot of 4905 West Tropicana Avenue. The bicyclist crossed Decatur Boulevard south of the intersection, police said.
The crash occurred when the front of the bicycle struck the right front of the Nissan.
Authorities said the bicyclist was projected onto the roadway, and the Nissan came to a controlled stop.
The bicyclist was transported to UMC Trauma, where he was pronounced dead.
Police noted that the driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.
The bicyclist’s death marks the 19th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas police’s jurisdiction for 2025.
