Death of infant found unconscious in southwest valley ruled an accident

The death of an 8-month-old boy found unconscious in March in a southwest Las Vegas Valley home has been ruled an accident, according to the Clark County coroner’s office.

Cameron Montijo was pronounced dead March 9 at St. Rose Dominican Hospital-San Martin Campus, Metro said. He had been brought there from a home in the 2900 block of Opal Hills Lane, near the intersection of Blue Diamond and Cimarron roads.

The infant’s cause of death was suffocation due to bedclothes, the coroner’s office said Wednesday.

Las Vegas police abuse and neglect detectives investigated the death, per standard procedure. A baby death investigation does not imply anything suspicious, Metro said.
