Decomposed body found in Las Vegas apartment identified

Updated September 20, 2017 - 6:01 pm

The Clark County coroner’s office has identified one of the decomposed bodies found in a central Las Vegas Valley apartment last week.

The body of Gwen Elizabeth Ulbrich, 48, was discovered last Tuesday with another body at the Solaire Apartments on the 1700 block of Karen Avenue.

The coroner’s office has yet to identify the other body, but the Metropolitan Police Department has said an autopsy revealed the two were mother and daughter.

Ulbrich’s family could not be reached Wednesday.

Metro spokesman Jay Rivera said last week he couldn’t confirm whether the deaths were being investigated as homicides because the cause and manner of the deaths were so far inconclusive.

Rivera has said the bodies showed no signs of trauma, but were badly decomposed.

An apartment complex resident called the property manager complaining of a smell coming from a unit. The manager found a dead woman inside near the doorway and called 911. Police and medical personnel discovered the other body inside the unit.

Metro spokesman Aden Ocampo-Gomez said Wednesday there were no updates to the case.
