SAMBALATTE TO OPEN NEW LOCATIONS

Sambalatte was set to open a second location near the 215 Beltway at 6555 S. Jones Blvd. on Jan. 24 and plans to open a third location in the MGM Resorts International entertainment project at the Monte Carlo on the Strip in the spring.

The new store includes a drive-thru window and a grab-and-go open food case, along with covered patio seating, a fire pit, a fireplace, flatscreen televisions and community lounging for up to 60 guests. Free Wi-Fi is available.

CANTINA LAREDO ANNOUNCES FEBRUARY PROMOTIONS

Kids are invited to eat for free at Cantina Laredo at Tivoli Village, 430 S. Rampart Blvd., No. 110, during the Winter Olympics, Feb. 7-23.

Also, from Feb. 17 through March 31, Cantina Laredo will donate $1 for every entree purchased on Mondays to the local chapter of the American Heart Association.

Cantina Laredo chef Damon Workman plans to raise money for the organization by participating in the association’s fourth annual Flavors of the Heart event Sept. 20.

GOLDEN NUGGET TO HOST AMERICAN CRAFT DISTILLERS FESTIVAL FEB. 7-9

The Golden Nugget, 129 Fremont St., plans to host the American Craft Distillers Festival Feb. 7-9. The event is set to feature whiskey, rye, bourbon, vodka, gin and moonshine brands through tasting experiences, mixology classes, dinner and more.

The Grand Tasting Experience is planned from 7 to 11 p.m. Feb. 7 and 2 to 6 p.m. Feb. 8 in the Grand Event Center. Tickets are $49.

The Turn of the Century Whiskey Dinner is set for 6 p.m. Feb. 9. Tickets are $85.

A two-day Grand Tasting Experience pass is $79. Guests can also purchase a dinner and Grand Tasting ticket for $115 or a dinner and Grand Tasting ticket for both days for $135.

CHOCOLATE & SPICE PLANS VALENTINE’S DAY DECORATING CLASS FOR KIDS

Chocolate & Spice Bakery, 7923 W. Sahara Ave., plans to host a children’s Valentine’s Day cupcake-decorating class from 4 to 5 p.m. Feb. 11.

Chef Megan Romano and Keris Kuwana plan to teach the mixing method of cupcake making before demonstrating various decorating tricks. Treats and refreshments are planned.

BELLAGIO ANNOUNCES CULINARY CLASSROOM SCHEDULE FOR 2014

The Executive Chef’s Culinary Classroom at the Bellagio, 3600 Las Vegas Blvd. South, has announced its schedule for 2014. The educational series includes interactive cooking classes led by executive chef Edmund Wong and his team. Each two-hour class is held in Tuscany Kitchen, a state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen. Each class has a seasonal theme and features a menu created with fresh ingredients.

MIX IN THE HOTEL AT MANDALAY BAY TO HOST FOR THE LOVE OF COCKTAILS FEB. 13

Mix in THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to host For the Love of Cocktails from 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 13 to benefit the Helen David Relief Fund.

The event is set to be co-hosted by mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim, who started the fund to provide financial assistance to those in the beverage industry who are affected by breast cancer. Stations featuring innovative cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and live music are planned.

CHINA POBLANO AT THE COSMOPOLITAN PLANS CHINESE NEW YEAR MENU

China Poblano at the Cosmopolitan, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to serve a Chinese New Year special menu Jan. 31-Feb. 14. Items are set to include Goose, Goose, Duck for $18.88 (seared foie gras, salted egg custard and mandarin orange) and Leaping Over The Dragon’s Gate for $36 (crispy whole snapper, scallions and ginger). ARIZONA CHARLIE’S SETS FEBRUARY DINING PROMOTIONS

Arizona Charlie’s Boulder, 4575 Boulder Highway, plans to offer a breakfast special in the Sourdough Cafe all day with ham or steak with eggs, hash browns and choice of toast or biscuit and gravy for $4.49 with an ace I PLAY card or $4.99 without a card.

A prime rib and shrimp special is available from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. through March 31, featuring a 9-ounce cut of prime rib, three fried shrimp and choice of potato, vegetable and dinner rolls. The cost is $9.99 with a card and $11.10 without.

Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, 740 S. Decatur Blvd., plans to offer the Triple Selection deal in Ron’s Steakhouse. The meal features an appetizer, entree choices of 6-ounce prime dry-aged filet mignon, 14-ounce prime rib of beef, rainbow trout, chicken piccata or chicken pomodoro and soup or salad and bread basket. The cost is $24.99 with a card and $27.77 without.

SPECIALTY NIGHTS PLANNED AT FESTIVAL BUFFETS

The Festival Buffets at Fiesta Henderson, 777 W. Lake Mead Parkway, and Fiesta Rancho, 2400 N. Rancho Drive, have announced specialty nights Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

Italian Night is offered from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays for $9.99 with a Boarding Pass and $13.99 without. A live pasta station is planned, along with Italian items such as stuffed shells, chicken Parmesan, meatballs and Italian desserts such as Italian rum cake.

A Champagne Brunch is planned Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fiesta Henderson and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fiesta Rancho.

Made-to-order omelets and eggs are planned, along with items such as country fried steak, top sirloin and a ham carving station. The buffet at Fiesta Henderson will offer a Bloody Mary Bar for $4 to $7 (vodka or tequila).

The cost is $8.99 with a Boarding Pass and $12.99 without.

CHEEBURGER CHEEBURGER TO HOST ONE POUNDER CHALLENGE FEB. 23

Cheeburger Cheeburger, 8390 S. Rainbow Blvd., plans to host a One Pounder Challenge at 7 p.m. Feb. 23.

The challenge will be hosted by the Rocking Comedy Show. Registration is required. A cash prize is available for first place.

A Two Pounder Challenge is planned for March 30, with a Three Pounder Challenge to be announced.

CHEF KERRY SIMON TO SPEARHEAD EVENT FOR KEEP MEMORY ALIVE

Chef Kerry Simon, who announced in December that he has multiple system atrophy, has partnered with Keep Memory Alive, the charitable arm of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, to raise research funds during an event set for 7 p.m. Feb. 27. The culinary and music-centric spectacular will be held in the Keep Memory Alive Event Center, 888 W. Bonneville Ave., and will feature celebrity chefs and live entertainment. A VIP after-party is planned at Kerry’s Simon Restaurant and Lounge at Palms Place, 4381 W. Flamingo Road.

Chefs set to attend include Daniel Boulud, Kim Canteenwalla, Wylie DuFresne, Grant Macpherson, Michael Mina, Rick Moonen and Megan Romano. Alice Cooper, Sammy Hagar, Vince Neil and Slash are set to join house band Sin City Sinners to entertain.

Tickets are $500 for general admission and $1,000 for the VIP pre-party reception with celebrity meet and greet, the Rock ‘n Roll Cocktail Party, an autographed poster and entry into the after-party.
