RAMPART CASINO PLANS CHRISTMAS DINING SPECIALS

The Rampart Buffet at the Rampart Casino at The Resort at Summerlin, 221 N. Rampart Blvd., plans to offer a holiday meal from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 25 for $16.99. The buffet is set to include soups, salads, a carving station with prime rib and oven-roasted turkey and a chilled seafood bar.

The Promenade Café plans to offer a three-course menu with roasted turkey, pecan-crusted salmon or apricot-glazed ham, paired with cream of broccoli soup or winter mix salad, with pumpkin or pecan tart for dessert. The special will be available from 2 to 10 p.m. Dec. 25 for $14.95.

The Carmel Room plans to serve a three-course dinner featuring holiday goose breast, grilled Kurobuta pork chop or holiday surft and turf at 2 p.m. Dec. 25 for $53.

Ceres plans to serve a Christmas brunch, including turkey, ham and short ribs, as well as a children's buffet, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 25 for $48.

FOUNDATION ROOM TO HOST HAPPY HOUR EVENTS FOR CHARITY

The Foundation Room, a private venue at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to host happy hour events through Saturday to benefit nonprofit organizations.

The events are scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. on the following dates: today, ALS of Nevada; Wednesday, Hero School Community; Friday, Mahubay Foundation; and Saturday, MS Society of Southern Nevada.

Dunkin' Donuts Las Vegas is collecting toys for the upcoming Hogs and Heifers "Miracle on 3rd Street" toy drive benefiting the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation until Wednesday.

Dunkin' Donuts will offer one free medium hot or iced coffee to guests who bring in a toy donation, with a limit of one coffee per customer. Wish list items include craft-oriented supplies, book bags, toys, handheld games, card games and educational games. Stuffed animals are discouraged.

THE VENETIAN, PALAZZO GEAR UP FOR CULINARY CLASH

The Venetian, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South, and Palazzo, 3339 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plan to host Culinary Clash, a new four-week competition for the resort's famed team of chefs.

The late-evening competition will be hosted by Claudine Grant and Robin Leach from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday and Dec. 21 and is open to all sous chefs and chefs de cuisine at the properties' 30-plus restaurants. Chefs will be challenged to create recipes using ingredients in a "mystery basket" to be prepared in mobile "food truck" kitchens on the Strip at The Venetian's Doge's Palace plaza. The clash will be broadcast on a giant screen on The Venetian Clock Tower, and each chef's creation will be available for sampling.

Each cooking battle will be highlighted by street entertainment, a disc jockey and an after party provided by TAO. Celebrity chef judges are scheduled to be: Thursday, Sammy DeMarco (semifinals); and Dec. 21, surprise chef to be announced (finals).

The competition winner and a guest will receive a trip to Italy.

SPAGO LAS VEGAS BRINGING BACK ORIGINAL MENU FOR 20TH ANNIVERSARY

Spago Las Vegas in The Forum Shops at Caesars, 3500 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is turning 20, and to celebrate, chef Wolfgang Puck plans to greet guests, take photos and cook in the kitchen today. The restaurant is also marking the occasion by offering a throwback menu for a limited time with retro pricing.

The menu will be available for dinner only through Friday and includes an appetizer of house smoked sturgeon with crisp potato galette and horseradish cream for $12 and an entree of Cantonese-style roasted duck with wild huckleberries, ginger and stir-fried baby bok choy for $20.

Beers brewed by Barley's brew master Jeffrey "Bubba" Amas will be used in the preparation of select food items, and Amas will provide beer pairing suggestions for guests 21 or older.
