The Jalisco experience is old-world spices combined with new-world ideas. The diverse menu has more than 90 items that are even more delicious when paired with a margarita made with 100 percent agave tequila and real fruit juices. Begin with guacamole made in three styles: classic, maiz y chipotle and camaron tropical (shrimp and mango). The Mexican pizza is a crispy flour tortilla with Jalisco cheese blend, pico de gallo, peppers, mushrooms and a choice of adobe barbecue carne asada, lime crema shrimp or mole grilled chicken. Several specials are pollo adobado and Tequila Sunrise Enchiladas del Mar, where shrimp, lobster, tomatoes and onions are sauteed in cream chipotle sauce and wrapped in grilled corn tortillas. Among the salads are Caesar taco and Jalisco with grilled chicken breast, tomato, cucumber, hard-boiled egg, avocado, bacon, queso fresco and chipotle-lime dressing. There are enchiladas, fajitas, chile relleno, chimichangas, street tacos, huevos rancheros, Claudia’s albondigas soup (beef meatballs and vegetables in chicken stock) and burritos, including chile verde, chicken and bacon, and shrimp with jicama slaw and mango-avocado salsa. Two popular appetizers are taquitos and ceviche with shrimp, lobster and avocado. Tacos start at $3.50, and combination plates begin at $10. Jalisco Cantina is open 24 hours daily.
