The concert and fundraising event “Awaken … A Story Beyond Words” is planned for 7 p.m. May 22 at Domsky Glass Studio, 2758 S. Highland Drive, to benefit Cirque du Soleil performing artist and musician Sami Saula and his wife, Leslie, to help pay for their son’s extensive medical bills. Elann Saula, 4, was born with hypogammaglobulinemia, a disorder in which the body creates a level of antibodies too low to sustain a normal immune system. As a result, Elann must go for monthly, six-hour infusions to help fight viruses, toxins and bacteria. He will need these infusions for at least several more years. Sami Saula is a musician in “Ka” and has released a CD of world music titled “Awaken.” It is available at samisaula.com.
