Honors graduate: Benjamin Marx graduated Summa Cum Laude from Arizona State University’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, where he majored in Technological Entrepreneurship and Management. Marx received the Moeur Award, which honored him for earning a 4.0 cumulative GPA in eight consecutive semesters. Marx is a 2012 graduate of the Adelson Educational Campus in Summerlin and the son of Dr. James and Marcia Marx of Las Vegas.

Principal summit: Mike Piccininni, principal at Coronado High School, recently joined 49 other principals from around the world July 14-17 for the 2016 Discovery Education Network Summer Institute Principal Summit, a four-day professional development and networking event to connect members across school systems and around the world through social media, virtual conferences and in-person events.

Diverse Scholars: UNLV student Rebecca Espinoza participated June 3 in the Diverse Scholars Forum in Washington, D.C., and met with policymakers and thought leaders to discuss the nation’s health issues, network with peers and special guests.

Leadership program: Immunize Nevada’s outreach and volunteer manager Lisa Coker has been accepted to the American Express Leadership Program through the Center for Creative Leadership. The program offers 48 emerging leaders from across the country an opportunity to participate in a marquis leadership development training program that includes a feedback-intensive learning environment and hands-on activities to enhance the leadership capacity of all the attendees.

Nurse awarded: MountainView Hospital employee Joanne Orlando, a registered nurse and director of clinical research, was awarded the HCA Innovators Award, Financial Impact Category.

Emmy Awards: The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Pacific Southwest Chapter announced that College of Southern Nevada students won eight Emmy Awards in June, with the top winner being “Pete the Pilot” by student Dontae Carter.

Graduates:

— Roy Mendez of Henderson recently graduated from Silverado High School and is a recipient of the Ronald McDonald Charities Scholarship program.

— Tracy Bushur and Dena Kaufman, both of Las Vegas, were honors graduates in June from San Diego State University.

— Kaitlyn Maurer of Henderson graduated from the University of Memphis May 7.

— Duran Heath and Connor Patton, both of Las Vegas, graduated from Army and Navy Academy June 4. Additionally, Patton earned the academy’s Certificate for Drama.

— The following students graduated from the University of San Diego May 22: Kyle Amundson, James Colleran, Mary Jo Dixon, Henley Doherty and Morgan Golceker, all of Las Vegas.

Honor rolls:

— Alexandra H. Bartlett of Las Vegas made the spring 2016 honor roll at Rhodes College in Memphis. Bartlett is a graduate of Faith Lutheran Midde School and High School.

— The following students made the spring 2016 dean’s honor roll at Kansas Wesleyan University: Palmer Bosanko of Henderson and Sarah Hunger of Las Vegas.
