PFC Robert Anthony Valdez graduated from U.S. Marine Basic Training in San Diego in October. He is the son of Amber and David Mills and brother of Matthew and Mason Mills of North Las Vegas. Valdez is a graduate of Shadow Ridge High School.
U.S. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Presley A. Power graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. She is the daughter of Frank E. Power of Henderson and is a 2012 graduate of Basic High School.
Air Force Airman Everhen Ross M. Aton graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Aton is the son of Renato L. Aton of Las Vegas and is a 2014 graduate of Silverado High School.
The Nevada Rural Housing Authority presented Julio Jimenez, a sales executive with Ticor Title, with its Most Valuable Partner Award at its Sept. 26 meeting.
YaeBin Kim, early care and education specialist at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, received the First Place National Award in the human development/family relationships program category for her Little Books and Little Cooks nutrition and early literacy program from the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.
Army Pvt. David J. Lopez graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Lopez is the son of Janet and Luis Lopez of Las Vegas and is a 2014 graduate of Veterans Tribute Career & Technical Academy.
Air Force Airman Rachael L. O’Keefe graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. O’Keefe is the daughter of Matthew J. O’Keefe of Henderson.
Air Force Airman Enzel Callix Q. Lenon graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Lenon is the son of Edwin Lenon of Las Vegas and is a 2014 graduate of Northwest Career and Technical Academy.
Army Pvt. Joyce A. Boykins has graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood in Waynesville, Mo. The course of instruction included basic military training and advanced individual training. Boykins is the daughter of Silvia E. Perez of Copperas Cove, Texas, and of Mercier A. Boykins of Henderson.
The following first-year University of San Diego students made the Honors Program: Brittany Bolduc and Kathryn Forsythe of Henderson and Jewel Mendiola of Las Vegas.
Azusa Pacific University students served in national and international ministry through the Center for Student Action during the summer, including Haley Daykin of Las Vegas and Sydnee Zentai of Henderson.
Air Force Airman Jezzel B. Balassu graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Balassu is the daughter of Maria C. Bulayog and the stepdaughter of Lowell R. Soria, both of Las Vegas. The airman graduated in 2014 from Sierra Vista High School.
Air Force Airman Courtney A. Munson graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Munson is the daughter of Ed and Jennifer Munson of Las Vegas and is a 2013 graduate of Palo Verde High School.
Air Force Airman Hector X. Ayalamonterroso graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Ayalamonterroso is the son of Anabella Monterroso of Las Vegas and is a 2009 graduate of Sierra Vista High School.
