DONATIONS OF HOLIDAY DECORATIONS
TO BENEFIT GOLDEN RAINBOW CLIENTS

The Miracle Mile Shops inside Planet Hollywood Resort, 3667 Las Vegas Blvd. South, has partnered with Golden Rainbow, a nonprofit that provides housing and financial assistance to people living with HIV and AIDS, for the organization's second annual Holiday Lights and Decorations Drive.

Donors can drop off seasonal lights and décor from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. until midnight Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 7 at the shops' customer service desk. All donations benefit Golden Rainbow's affordable housing program families in Southern Nevada. Donors will receive a Miracle Mile Shops coupon book.

DOWNTOWN GRAND CONSTRUCTION BEGINS

Executives of Fifth Street Gaming, a Nevada-based casino management company overseeing the redevelopment of the Downtown Grand , joined dozens of construction workers, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, city officials and the Valley High School marching band to mark the beginning of construction on the 650-room downtown hotel, soon to replace the shuttered Lady Luck.

Demolition and construction are under way on the Downtown Grand , which anchors Downtown3rd, an emerging metropolitan center that is set to eventually include 18 bars and restaurants on Third Street between Stewart and Ogden avenues and the surrounding neighborhood.

The Downtown Grand is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.
