Paradise/Downtown Neighborhood News

The Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada launched a five-week campaign to raise money for the construction and preparation of the nonprofit group’s new location at the Robert L. Forbuss Building, 401 S. Maryland Parkway.

Its goal is to raise $100,000 by its 18th annual Honorarium, set for Nov. 3 at the Rain nightclub at the Palms, 4321 W. Flamingo Road.

Each week, the campaign will feature videos of community members addressing a weekly theme. The themes will include the necessity of the center, details of the new building, client testimonials and others.

Links to the videos are set to be posted on the center’s Facebook page at facebook.com/centerlv.

Staff members hope the campaign will help residents better understand the center’s mission to support the well being, positive image and human rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.
