CITY OF LAS VEGAS accepting
ASSISTANCE APPLICATIONS

The city of Las Vegas is accepting applications for short-term rental assistance.

Those who qualify must be a city resident, have sustainable income and provide several forms of documentation, including Social Security cards and birth certificates for everyone in the household, bank statements for the last 90 days and proof of crisis.

Applications may be picked up between 7 a.m. and noon or between 1 and 4 p.m. at the Corridor of Hope Center inside The Salvation Army of Southern Nevada offices at 1581 N. Main St.

LEARN MORE ABOUT TENDING LANDSCAPES AT COOPERATIVE EXTENSION CLASSES

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension plans to host green industry training classes in English and Spanish from 5:30 to
8:30 p.m. April 10 and April 16 at the Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road.

The first class focuses on looking at mistakes in landscapes and the second places emphasis on recognizing plant names.

THURSDAY AT SENIOR CENTER

BUSINESS SEMINAR TO SHARE TIPS
ON ATTRACTING CUSTOMERS

The Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road, plans to host a seminar titled “Marketing Your Business on the Internet” beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Jewel Box Theater.

The seminar, being put on in conjunction with the Service Corps Of Retired Executives, is designed to teach participants the basics of online marketing and tips to attract more customers.

RELIGIOUS FILM TO HIGHLIGHT LIFE OF JESUS

The Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road, is slated to show a screening of “Drama de la Pasion de Jesus Nazaret” in Spanish at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday and at 2 p.m. Saturday in the main theater.

The movie depicts the passion of Jesus Christ, and due to strong subject matter, parental supervision is advised.

DIABETES AWARENESS CLASSES PLANNED

Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, 3101 S. Maryland Parkway, plans to hold two diabetes outpatient classes this week.

One class focuses on an overview of medications and is slated from 1 to 3 p.m. today, and the other is on nutrition, scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday. Registration is required.

MOM MUSEUM MEMBERSHIPS AVAILABLE

The Mob Museum, 300 Stewart Ave., is offering memberships for individuals and corporations.

Membership rates range from $25 a year for individuals to corporate levels for $2,500 to $50,000. Benefits include free admission, priority notification for events and other discounts.

MAMMOVAN SCHEDULED TO OFFER
LOW-COST BREAST CANCER SCREENINGS

Nevada Health Center’s Mammovan is scheduled to offer low- to no-cost breast cancer screenings at selected Food 4 Less locations, thanks to a $10,000 grant from Food 4 Less.

Stops are scheduled from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 1 at 8180 Las Vegas Blvd. South; June 5 and Sept. 4 at 1301 S. Boulder Highway; June 14 at 4001 S. Decatur Blvd.; Aug. 16 at 1955 N. Nellis Blvd.; and Nov. 21 at 2255 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

NEW CLINIC SERVES SENIORS
WITH LOW INCOME, NO INSURANCE

The Community Care Clinic has opened a new location at 711 Morgan Ave. to serve low-income and/or no-insurance residents.

The clinic, sponsored by the Southern Nevada Community Foundation, plans to be open from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on the first and third Fridays of each month.
