A 92-year-old woman died after being hit by a vehicle Thursday afternoon in the central valley.
The woman was crossing Tropicana Avenue in a marked crosswalk toward Charlie Frias Park — just west of the South Edmond Street intersection — when driver Carmen Cardenas slammed into the pedestrian with her 2000 Nissan Maxima at 5:43 p.m., police said.
The woman was forced to the ground and out of the crosswalk, where medics found her. She later died at UMC Trauma, police said.
Cardenas, 56, stayed at the scene.
The crash happened about 10 minutes after another pedestrian in the valley was hit and killed on Boulder Highway, near Russell Road.
The pedestrian’s identity had not yet been released as of Thursday night.
