Fire destroys home near Mount Charleston, displacing 2 people
A house near Mount Charleston was ruled a total loss after a fire ravaged the structure Saturday night, displacing at least two people, according to the Clark County Fire Department.
About 40 county firefighters were called just before 8 p.m. Saturday to a single-family home at 13825 Racel Street, off Kyle Canyon Road, about 5 miles west of U.S. Highway 95, said Fire Chief Larry Haydu.
Las Vegas firefighters were the first to arrive at the scene and helped put out the blaze, which caused about $800,000 of damage, Haydu said. The house was ruled a total loss.
Two people were home at the time of the fire, but were not injured. The residents did not request help from American Red Cross, Haydu said.
The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation, he said Sunday morning.
