Fireworks caused 45 outdoor fires the week of July 4 in NLV

Fireworks kept North Las Vegas firefighters busy the week of Fourth of July.

Between June 28 and Saturday, the department responded to 45 outdoor fires, all of which were caused by fireworks, according to a news release sent Tuesday.

The department also reports that 19 of 21 building fire calls were fireworks-related. The most severe caused $110,000 in damage. Two of four vehicle fires were fireworks-related.

No serious injuries were reported.

“Our goal is to make sure that the community is safe at all costs and hope that by providing this information our citizens will learn from others’ misfortune,” the department said in the release.
