Fireworks, parades celebrate Fourth of July

A parade, fireworks and plenty of other Independence Day celebrations are taking place across the valley this week. Here are some options to check out:

Today

■ An Independence Day Jubilee at James Seastrand Park, 6330 Camino Eldorado, North Las Vegas, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. will feature children's activities, music and fireworks. Gates open at 5 p.m. Admission is $4, but wristbands are available in advance for five for $15 (633-2650).

■ Gates open at 5 p.m. at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 7000 Las Vegas Blvd. North, for the "Night of Fire," which will feature NASCAR-sanctioned stock car racing and other events starting at 7 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled for 10:15 p.m. Adult admission is $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the show; $15 for seniors and active military with ID; $8 for ages 6 to 14; and free for children 5 and younger (644-4444).

Wednesday

■ The annual Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade, featuring more than 60 entries, will start at 9 a.m. at the corner of Hillpointe Road and Hills Center Drive in the Trails village of Summerlin. Participants will travel south on Hills Center Drive toward the Village Center Circle roundabout before heading west on Trailwood Drive. The parade ends at the corner of Trailwood Drive and Spring Gate Lane. Arrive early for the best view. Free admission (341-5500).

■ Games, food, fireworks and music are scheduled from 6 to 11 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 1650 Buchanan Blvd., as part of the Boulder City Damboree. Parking is $10. A parade will travel down Nevada Highway at 9 a.m. A water zone, a plane fly-over, midway booths and flag-raising will take place at parks throughout the city after the parade ends. Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Park. Free admission (293-9256).

■ Fireworks and activities, including music and food trucks, are scheduled from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at Knickerbocker Park in Providence, 10695 Dorrell Lane. Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. Free admission (216-2020).

■ A Fourth of July celebration will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mission Hills Park, 551 E. Mission Drive, Henderson. Entertainment will include music, a Battle of the Bands competition and an 18-minute fireworks show. Admission is free, and the fireworks show will start at 9 p.m. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., shuttle service will be available at Foothill High School, 800 College Drive (HendersonLive.com).

■ The Las Vegas 51s will offer a fireworks show after the team's game with the Tucson Padres, which starts at 7:05 p.m. at Cashman Field, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Tickets are $17.50 to $25.25 (798-7825; LV51.com).

■ Station Casinos will offer fireworks by Grucci after 9 p.m. at Aliante Station, 7300 Aliante Parkway, North Las Vegas; Green Valley Ranch Resort, 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway, Henderson; Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd.; Fiesta Rancho, 2400 N. Rancho Drive; and Texas Station, 2101 Texas Star Lane, North Las Vegas.
