Hiker found dead in Frenchman Mountain area
A male hiker was found dead by a group of hikers in the Frenchman Mountain area east of Las Vegas on Saturday afternoon.
Lt. Ken Romane, a spokesman with the Metropolitan Police Department, said a search and rescue helicopter will be dispatched to retrieve the body.
“We’re still trying to determine whether we go in with the helicopter today or tomorrow,” he said.
The age of the hiker and the circumstances surrounding his death were still unknown Saturday afternoon, Romane said.
The group of hikers, after spotting the body, hiked to an area with cellphone service to call 911, Romane said.
The call came in at 3:30 p.m.
